Adelaide to Brisbane removalists, packed for the long haul

ADELAIDEBRISBANE

Adelaide to Brisbane is the longest of the east coast routes from South Australia: about 2,000 km on the highway route, through three states. As removalists from Adelaide to Brisbane, Moveall treats it as a long-haul move from the first call: a quote built on a full inventory, packing that holds its shape for days on the road, and a delivery into your Brisbane home, door to door. This page explains how that works, and what you can do to make the move go smoothly.

Why the figure is ‘about 2,000 km’

Route data gives a shorter line of about 1,933 km, but it runs on minor and unsealed roads. The 2,006 km figure follows the highways trucks use, worked out on OpenStreetMap road data from the Adelaide GPO in October 2026.

Removalists Adelaide to Brisbane: what Moveall plans

Moveall Interstate is Moveall’s door-to-door interstate service for moves into and out of South Australia, by road and rail freight. On the Brisbane route, the plan covers:

  • The quote. Moveall’s customer care team asks about your bedrooms and living areas, the access at both homes and any heavy or bulky items, then emails a quote made for your move. An in-home quote is free.
  • Packing. Moveall’s Wrap & Pack service, or your own packing to the same standard.
  • Loading. Furniture wrapped in moving blankets and loaded to Moveall’s strict handling and packaging procedures, with extra hands for heavy pieces.
  • The trip. Road or rail freight, as your quote sets out.
  • Delivery. Furniture and cartons carried into the Brisbane home and set in the rooms you name.

The inventory is the quote

On a 2,000 km move the inventory does more work than on any local job. It decides the space your home needs, the packing materials, the crew on the day and the price. Moveall’s terms say a fixed-price quote relies on the inventory list from the quote, and that items added on the day cost extra. A careful list now saves a hard conversation on moving day.

Go room by room

  • Bedrooms: beds and bases, mattresses, wardrobes, chests of drawers, bedside tables.
  • Living areas: lounges, recliners, coffee tables, TV units, bookcases, rugs, lamps, artwork and mirrors.
  • Kitchen and dining: the dining setting, the fridge, the microwave, cartons of crockery and glassware.
  • Laundry and storeroom: the washing machine, the dryer, shelving, and the cartons nobody has opened since the last move.
  • Outside: outdoor settings, barbecues, bikes, garden tools and the shed.
  • Heavy pieces: a piano, a pool table or other heavy or bulky items, which Moveall’s Supercharge option handles with extra team members and equipment.

Then take out what you will not take. Brisbane is a long way to carry a broken chair.

Protecting furniture over 2,000 km

A long haul is hard on furniture in ways a short move is not: hours of road vibration, a load that has to stay put through every turn, and several handlings between the two homes. What keeps furniture in good order is mostly done before the truck leaves Adelaide.

  • Wrapped, not just stacked. Each piece is wrapped in moving blankets so finishes do not rub against each other or the truck.
  • Empty inside. Drawers and wardrobes emptied, as Moveall’s terms ask, so loose things cannot slide and furniture is light enough to lift safely.
  • Loose parts kept together. Shelves, glass panels and fittings wrapped and labelled with the piece they belong to.
  • A load built tight. Heavy pieces low, cartons in even tiers, gaps filled, so nothing shifts on the road.
  • Fragile things packed by someone who does it every day. Wrap & Pack has purpose-made boxes and wrapping for fragile items, TVs and artwork.

Moving from Adelaide to Brisbane: arriving ahead of the truck

At 25 hours of driving, most people fly to Brisbane or drive over three days, and either way they arrive before their furniture. Plan the gap:

  • Book somewhere to stay, or pack an air mattress, linen and towels in the car.
  • Keep documents, medicines, chargers and a change of clothes with you, never in the truck.
  • Line up power, water and internet at the Brisbane home before you arrive.
  • Sort the keys, the building access and somewhere for the truck to stop for the delivery day.
  • Keep your phone on and tell Moveall if your Brisbane plans change.

If the car is coming, the drive is long: Moveall does not list car transport as a service, so most people drive it or book a car carrier separately. If you drive, split the trip into days and rest along the way.

The Brisbane end of the move

Moveall asks about the access at both homes before it quotes, because the delivery is planned from what you tell us. Before you send your details, find out a few things about the Brisbane home:

  • Steps and stairs. How many steps from the street to the front door, and whether the bedrooms are upstairs or down.
  • Doors and turns. The width of the front door and hallway against your widest pieces, such as the lounge and the fridge.
  • The street. Whether a large truck can stop outside, or whether there is a narrow lane, a steep drive or a bus stop in the way.
  • Buildings. For an apartment or unit, how moves are booked, whether there is a loading dock, and the size of the lift.
  • Timing. Settlement or lease start times, so the delivery is not booked for an hour when the keys are not yet yours.

A short note about each of these, on the phone or in the ‘Anything we should know’ box on the contact form, makes the quote, and the delivery day, far more accurate.

Paying for an interstate move to Brisbane

What shapes the price of a Brisbane move is the same list as the inventory: the rooms and what is in them, the access at both homes, heavy or bulky items, packing, and how the load travels. Moveall’s quote is made for your move. Moveall’s own guide says full payment for an interstate move is made on the day of the move.

Insurance on the Brisbane route

Moveall holds $20 million public liability cover. That covers damage to people and property around the job, and it is not insurance for your own belongings. Ask us about transit insurance for your belongings when you get your quote, and read what it covers before your home sets off on a 2,000 km trip.

Queensland paperwork

Queensland has its own rules and time limits for transferring a licence and registering a car brought from another state. Check them with Queensland’s transport authority before you leave, and change your address with your bank, employer and insurers while you are still in Adelaide.
