About the figures

Distances and driving times are worked out on OpenStreetMap road data in October 2026, on the highways trucks use. A shorter 1,933 km line exists but runs on minor and unsealed roads. A removal truck is slower than a car and its driver must rest, so ask for the delivery window with your quote.

Removalists Brisbane to Adelaide: the move in five stages

  1. Quote. Moveall’s customer care team asks about your bedrooms and living areas, the access at the Brisbane and Adelaide homes and any heavy or bulky items, then emails a quote made for your move. An in-home quote is free.
  2. Pack. You pack, or Moveall’s Wrap & Pack service brings the boxes and materials and packs your approved household items.
  3. Load. Furniture is wrapped in moving blankets and loaded to Moveall’s strict handling and packaging procedures.
  4. Travel. Your home goes by road or rail freight, as the quote sets out.
  5. Deliver. Furniture and cartons are carried into the Adelaide home and set in the rooms you name.

What South Australia will not let in from Queensland

South Australia restricts produce and plants coming from other states because of fruit fly, and PIRSA’s page lists separate requirements for each state, Queensland included. The broad rules, as PIRSA states them:

  • Some fruit, vegetables, plants, plant products and other items cannot be brought into South Australia from interstate.
  • Fruit and vegetables at risk from fruit fly must be eaten or disposed of before entering South Australia or the Riverland.
  • People are fined if caught with restricted items at Yamba quarantine station, or at random roadblocks set up after the disposal bins.

For a removal load, the safe course is simple: don’t pack fresh fruit, vegetables or plants for a move into SA. Tropical fruit, potted herbs and garden cuttings are easy to forget, so clear the fridge, the fruit bowl and the balcony in your last week in Brisbane. PIRSA’s Fruit Fly Hotline answers questions about particular items around the clock.

Building the inventory for a 2,000 km load

On a move this long the inventory is the plan. It sets how much space your home needs, which materials come on packing day, how many people load it, and what the quote covers. Moveall’s terms say a fixed-price quote relies on the inventory list from the quote, and items added on the day cost extra.

  • Walk through every room, cupboard, the garage and the outdoor areas, and list what is going.
  • Name the large pieces: beds and bases, wardrobes, lounges, the dining setting, the fridge, the washing machine, outdoor settings.
  • Flag anything heavy or bulky, such as a piano or a pool table. Moveall’s Supercharge option adds team members and specialty equipment for those within a full move.
  • Decide what not to take. A move to Adelaide is a good time to sell or give away furniture that suited a Queensland house and will not suit the new one.

Packing in Brisbane

A load that travels for days needs cartons that hold their shape and furniture that cannot rub or shift. Whoever packs, Moveall’s terms ask that loose items are in cartons and furniture is emptied of loose items before moving day. Moveall’s Wrap & Pack service supplies purpose-made boxes and wrapping for clothes, books, heavy items, fragile items, TVs and artwork, and packs them for you; or you can pack the everyday things yourself and leave the fragile ones to the packers. Label every carton with the Adelaide room it is going to, and keep one carton of first-night things, marked clearly, to open before anything else.

The days between Brisbane and the delivery

At about 25 hours of driving, most people fly from Brisbane to Adelaide, or drive over three days. Either way you will likely be in Adelaide before your furniture.

  • Ask for the delivery window for your move when you get your quote.
  • Book somewhere to stay, or bring bedding, towels and a few kitchen things.
  • Keep documents, medicines, chargers and valuables with you.
  • Connect power, water and internet at the Adelaide home before the delivery day.
  • Sort the keys and, for an apartment, the lift and loading dock for the delivery.

Moveall does not list car transport as a service. If the car is coming, most people drive it down, or book a car carrier separately.

Where you are moving to in Adelaide

Moveall delivers across its 28 Adelaide suburbs, from Salisbury, Elizabeth and Golden Grove in the north to Marion, Mitcham and Blackwood in the south, the eastern suburbs from Norwood to Burnside, the beaches from Semaphore to Brighton, the city itself, and Mount Barker in the Hills. Tell us about the access at the new home: stairs, a steep driveway, a narrow street, or a city building’s lift and dock rules. In the city, we check parking and loading rules with the building and the council before moving day.

Your first months in SA

Service SA says you must transfer an interstate licence to a South Australian one within 3 months of moving here, and register an interstate car in SA within 3 months; an interstate-registered car can be driven in SA for up to 90 days. Update your enrolment with the AEC once you have lived at the new address for a month. The article on licence, rego and address changes after moving to SA has the details, and the guide to moving to Adelaide covers the city.

Price, payment and insurance

The price of a Brisbane to Adelaide move comes from the inventory, the access at both homes, heavy items, packing and road or rail. Moveall’s own guide says full payment for an interstate move is made on the day of the move. Moveall holds $20 million public liability cover, which is not insurance for your belongings in transit: ask us about transit insurance for your belongings when you get your quote.
