Interstate removalists in Adelaide: how a Moveall move works

Interstate removalists in Adelaide are judged on the part of the move you cannot see: the days your home spends between two states. This page explains how Moveall plans that, step by step, from the first call to the last carton carried into your new home. Interstate Removalists Adelaide is a website of Moveall Australia Pty Ltd, an Adelaide removalist, and the interstate service described here is Moveall Interstate.

A country highway crossing rolling golden grassland and gum trees in low evening sun

Moveall Interstate moves homes door to door, into and out of South Australia. In Moveall’s words, it moves entire contents, specialist furniture and cargo across Australia via road and rail freight. Whether you are taking a three-bedroom house to Brisbane or bringing a family home back to Adelaide from Perth, the order of things is the same.

Interstate removalist Adelaide quotes start with your inventory

An interstate quote cannot be guessed from the number of bedrooms alone. Moveall’s customer care team asks about the things that change the job:

  • The rooms. How many bedrooms and living areas, and what is in each: beds, wardrobes, lounges, dining settings, desks, the garage and the shed.
  • Access at both homes. Stairs, lifts, a long walk from the kerb, a steep driveway or a tight street, at the Adelaide end and at the far end.
  • Heavy or bulky items. A piano, a pool table or another heavy piece needs extra hands and equipment, and is planned into the load.
  • Packing. Whether you will pack yourself, want the fragile things packed, or want the whole home packed.
  • The route and the date. Where you are going, and the date or month you are aiming for.

From that conversation, or from a free in-home quote, Moveall emails a quote made for your move. Its terms say a fixed-price quote relies on the inventory list from the quote, and that items added on the day cost extra. So the most useful thing you can do at this stage is walk through every room, cupboard and outbuilding and list what is going. The interstate moving checklist has a room-by-room list to work from.

Questions worth asking any interstate removalist

What exactly does the quote include? How does my home travel, by road or rail? What is the delivery window for my route? What cover do you hold, and what insurance is there for my belongings in transit? When do I pay? Get the answers in writing before you book.

Packing an Adelaide home for an interstate trip

A load that will travel 700 or 2,700 km needs packing that holds its shape for the whole distance. You have three choices.

Moveall packs everything

Moveall’s Wrap & Pack service wraps and packs all approved household items and supplies the boxes and packing materials for moving day, with purpose-made boxes and wrapping for clothes, books, heavy items, fragile items, TVs and artwork. Moveall says customers can head out for the day and come back to a house ready for the truck.

Moveall packs the fragile things

Many people pack books, linen and clothes themselves and leave the glassware, the crockery, the mirrors and the artwork to the packers. It is a good middle path on a long route, where the fragile cartons are the ones most at risk.

You pack yourself

If you pack, use strong cartons of a few standard sizes so they stack, fill each one so it does not crush, keep heavy things in small boxes, and label every carton with the room it is going to. Moveall’s terms ask that loose items are packed in cartons and furniture is emptied of loose items before moving day; otherwise they may not be moved, or may cost extra.

Your consignment note

Loading and securing the furniture

On the day, furniture is wrapped in moving blankets before it goes on the truck. A well-built load cannot shift on a long road: heavy pieces sit low, cartons stack in even tiers, and soft things fill the gaps. Moveall describes its approach as strict handling and packaging procedures. Heavy pieces such as a piano or a pool table travel with the rest of your home, with extra team members and specialty equipment through Moveall’s Supercharge option for heavy and bulky items.

Before the doors close, walk the empty house with the crew: every room, every cupboard, the garden shed, the meter box shelf. It is far easier to find a forgotten box in Adelaide than to send it on later.

Road or rail: how your home travels

Moveall names both road and rail freight for interstate moves. Which one carries your home depends on the route, the load and the timing, and your quote sets out which it will be. Either way your home is collected from your door in Adelaide and delivered to your door in the new city.

Driving time is a car with no stops, worked out on OpenStreetMap road data in October 2026. A removal truck is slower, and drivers of heavy vehicles must take rest breaks under the national fatigue rules, so a delivery window is always longer than the drive. Ask for the window for your route when you get your quote.

Insurance for an interstate move

Moveall holds $20 million public liability cover. Public liability covers damage to people and property around the job. It is a separate thing from insurance for your own belongings while they travel. Ask us about transit insurance for your belongings when you book, read what it covers and what it leaves out, and keep your inventory with it. The article on transit insurance for an interstate move goes into the difference.

Delivery at the far end

Your home is carried into the new house or apartment and set in the rooms you name. A few things make delivery day smoother:

  • Be reachable. Keep your phone on in the days before delivery, and tell Moveall if your plans change.
  • Sort the access. Book the lift or loading dock if the building needs it, and think about where a truck can stop in the street.
  • Name the rooms. Tape a room name to each door to match the labels on the cartons.
  • Check as it comes off. Tick off the inventory as furniture and cartons come in, and note anything that needs a second look.

For an interstate move, Moveall’s own guide says full payment is made on the day of the move. Your quote gives the details.

Moving into Adelaide from interstate

Interstate removals run both ways. If you are coming to Adelaide, the same planning applies, with one difference at the border: South Australia restricts many fruits, vegetables and plants from other states because of fruit fly, so leave fresh produce and pot plants out of the truck. Why an Adelaide removalist for an interstate move

Moveall is South Australian owned and operated, and its interstate service is run from Adelaide. Your quote, your packing day and your questions are handled by the same team, with one number to call from the first conversation to the day the truck is empty. Moveall’s own values are presentation, honesty, punctuality and efficiency. You can read more on about Moveall.
