Removalists Perth to Adelaide: what Moveall plans

Removalists from Perth to Adelaide have the longest capital route into South Australia to plan for. Moveall’s plan runs in the same order on every interstate move:

South Australia’s rules for produce from WA

Coming into South Australia, the rules are South Australia’s. PIRSA, the state’s primary industries department, restricts fruit, vegetables, plants and plant products from other states because of fruit fly, and it lists separate requirements for produce from Western Australia.

• PIRSA says some fruit, vegetables, plants, plant products and other items cannot be brought into South Australia from interstate.
• It says to eat or dispose of fruit and vegetables at risk from fruit fly before entering South Australia or the Riverland.
• It says people are fined if caught with restricted items at Yamba quarantine station, or at random roadblocks set up after the disposal bins.

Leaving a Perth home

The planning at the Perth end is about the inventory and the access. Moveall’s terms say a fixed-price quote relies on the inventory list from the quote, and items added on the day cost extra, so list every room, the garage, the patio and the shed. Then tell us how the truck gets to your door:

• stairs, a long path or a narrow side gate between the kerb and the door;
• for an apartment, the lift size, the loading dock and the building’s booking rules for moves;
• where a large truck can stop in your street;
• the time you hand over the keys or the lease ends.

Pack the house, or have Wrap & Pack do it, with every carton labelled for its Adelaide room. Moveall’s terms ask that loose items go in cartons and furniture is emptied of loose items before moving day.

Heavy pieces travel with the rest of the home. A piano or a pool table is planned into the load, and Moveall’s Supercharge option adds team members and specialty equipment for heavy and bulky items within a full move. Tell us about them at the quote, along with anything fragile or valuable, so the packing and loading are planned around them rather than sorted out on the day.

Crossing the Nullarbor yourself

About 31.5 hours of driving with no stops makes the trip east four days or more for most people, with long gaps between fuel and rest stops in places. Moveall does not list car transport as a service, so if the car is coming, the choice is to drive it or book a specialist car carrier separately. If you drive, you will very likely reach Adelaide before your furniture. If you fly, plan to land a day or two before the delivery window so you can collect keys and get the power, water and internet on.

Arriving in Adelaide

Moveall delivers across its 28 Adelaide suburbs, from the city to the northern, eastern, southern and western suburbs, the beaches and Mount Barker in the Hills. Coming from Perth, the road reaches Port Augusta and runs south to Adelaide along Port Wakefield Road into the northern suburbs. Before the delivery day:

Service SA says you must transfer an interstate licence to a South Australian licence within 3 months of moving here, and register an interstate car in SA within 3 months; a car with interstate registration can be driven in SA for up to 90 days. Price, payment and insurance

The price of a move from Perth comes from the inventory, the access at both homes, heavy or bulky items, packing and road or rail.
