The Sydney end: apartments, stairs and the street

Many Adelaide households moving to Sydney go from a house with a driveway to an apartment, a terrace or a townhouse. That is where most of the planning goes. Moveall asks about the access at both homes because it decides how the truck is unloaded and how long it takes.

Apartments and strata buildings

• Ask the building manager or strata manager how moves are booked: many buildings set times for moves and ask for the lift to be booked and padded.
• Find out whether there is a loading dock, how high a truck it takes, and how far it is from the lift.
• Measure the lift, the corridors and the front door of the apartment against your largest pieces: the lounge, the fridge, the bed base.
• Pass the building’s rules on to us with your quote request, so the unloading is planned around them.

Terraces and townhouses

• Narrow front gates and hallways, steep internal stairs and tight turns can stop a large piece at the door. Measure before you pack.
• Think about where a truck can stop in the street, and whether the council or the street has parking rules for it.
• If a piece will not go in through the front, tell us early: it is better to sell or give it away in Adelaide than to send it 1,374 km and find it will not fit.

Packing for 1,374 km
